It is official: the Canadian Jersey has more influence than ever before!
The actual count for registrations processed in 2012 came in at a whopping 9000! This is a 6.5% increase over 2011, and not since 1967 have registrations hit the 9000-count threshold! Canadian Jersey owners continue to take advantage of the convenience of filing their registrations electronically. In 2012, 64% of all registrations were filed through milk recording agencies, or using Jersey Canada’s online registry system.
2012 was an impressive year for transfers as well: a total of 2701 transfers for the year. This is an incredible 14.7% increase over 2011!
There is no doubt that the Jersey cow is quickly becoming the most enticing dairy breed in Canada, and that Jersey Canada is indeed increasing the profitability of Jersey owners and enhancing the footprint of Canadian Jerseys.
What an exciting way to plunge into 2013!
